Parent visas are for people with Australian/permanent resident children who are settled in Australia. To be eligible, parents must pass a “Balance of Family” test. This test requires that majority of your children are settled in Australia. Sponsors must be prepared to pay for the applicant’s “Assurance of Support” (AoS). Aos is a legal commitment by a person to repay to the Australian Government certain welfare payments if paid to the parent during their AoS period.  The criteria set out below are very general.  We can assist you with this visa:

Eligibility: There is no age requirement for this visa
Duration: 5 years
Notes:
You can be in or outside of Australia at the time of lodgement. Assurance of support is needed for 2 years.
   
Aged Parent Residence  
Subclass: 804
Eligibility:
Main applicant must be aged
Duration: 5 years
Notes: You must be in Australia at the time of lodgement. Assurance of support is needed for 2 years.
   
Contributory Parent Migrant  
Subclass:
143
Eligibility: There is no age requirement for this visa
Duration: 5 years
Notes: If you are the holder of a subclass 173 visa or substituted 676 visa you must apply in Australia. Other applicants may be in or outside of Australia at the time of lodgement. Assurance of support is needed for 10 years.
   
Contributory Parent Temporary  
Subclass: 173
Eligibility: There is no age requirement for this visa   
Duration: 2 years
Notes:
You can be in or outside of Australia at the time of lodgement.
   
Contributory Aged Parent Residence  
Subclass: 864
Eligibility: Main applicant must be aged  
Duration: 5 years
Notes:
You must be in Australia at the time of lodgement. Assurance of support is needed for 10 years.
   
Contributory Aged Parent Temporary  
Subclass: 884
Eligibility: Main applicant must be aged 
Duration: 2 years
