Skilled Migration

Australia has a General Skilled Migration (GSM) program for people who are not sponsored by an employer and who have skills in particular occupations required in Australia. GSM visas are points tested. Depending on your age, English skills, qualifications, you will be awarded points. Currently, you must obtain 120 points to be eligible to apply. From 1 July 2011 a new points test for GSM visa applications will be introduced.  We have the two different assessment tests on this website.  You can be assessed against both for the time being to see which one suits you best.  The criteria set our below are very general and your case will be need to assessed accordingly.  We can assist you with this:

Independent - Offshore  
Subclass: 175
Eligibility: Must obtain 120 points. Must pass the skills assessment test.
Duration: 5 years
Notes: This visa is an offshore permanent visa which is available to all independent applicants outside Australia, as well as to New Zealand citizens who are in Australia. We will assess you and/or your spouse to determine if you meet the Points test.
   
Sponsored - Offshore  
Subclass: 176
Eligibility: Must obtain 100 points. Must pass the skills assessment test and must be sponsored by state/territory government or Australian relative.
Duration: 5 years
Notes:
This visa is an offshore permanent visa which is available to all independent applicants from outside Australia, as well as to New Zealand citizens who are in Australia, who are being sponsored for migration either by an Australian relative or an Australian State/Territory government. We will assess you and/or your spouse to determine if you meet the Points test.
   
Independent - Onshore  
Subclass: 885
Eligibility: Must obtain 120 points. Must pass the skills assessment test. Open to students who have completed eligible courses in Australia and are on the occupations list
Duration: 5 years
Notes: This visa is an onshore permanent visa which is available to all independent applicants as well as to New Zealand citizens who are in Australia. You must nominate a skilled occupation gazetted for at least 50 points. We will assess you to determine if you meet the Points test.
   
Sponsored - Onshore  
Subclass: 886
Eligibility: Must obtain 100 points. Must pass the skills assessment test. Open to students who have completed eligible courses in Australia and are on the occupations list.
Duration: 5 years
Notes: This visa is an onshore permanent visa which is available to all independent applicants as well as to New Zealand citizens who are in Australia, who are being sponsored either by an Australian relative or Australian state/territory government. You must nominate a skilled occupation gazetted for at least 50 points. We will assess you to determine if you meet the Points test.
   
Graduate  
Subclass: 485
Eligibility: Not assessed against points criteria.
Duration: 5 years
Notes: This is an onshore provisional visa which is specifically for overseas students who have studied in Australia but who do not as yet meet the requirements for the Independent (885) or Sponsored (886) permanent visas. By applying for this visa, it will give the students  a chance to gain working experience or attend a professional year in Australia or improve their English language skills before applying for permanent residence. We will assess you to determine if this visa is right for you.
